TowerEight, the leading independent project and cost management consultancy, has completed work as project manager on the Lanesborough Club & Spa – London’s new and exclusive lifestyle club.
Spread over 18,000 sq ft (1,672 sq. m), this world class Members Club offers an “integrated approach to wellbeing” that has been developed by leaders in their respective fields.
The project started on site on October 2015 completing in March 2017 and drawing on expertise across the sector to develop a world class solution for one of its most prestigious hotels.
Located in the heart of London, between Mayfair and Belgravia, the club and spa has sumptuous interiors that reflect the elegant architecture of the grand Regency-period building that houses this landmark hotel.
Club members and hotel guests can relax, exercise, dine and socialise in sophisticated spaces that include a luxurious spa lounge and a restaurant with private dining room.
James Wilkins, Project Manager at TowerEight, said: “The project had to maintain the hotel’s world famous style, and honour its architectural heritage. As a key element of the most prestigious hotels in the world. The spa has to feature cutting edge technology and every luxury feature. Social spaces include a restaurant with private dining room and an opulent spa lounge with dedicated spa butlers on hand to provide a personalised client journey and concierge service. It amounts to a wonderful, luxury experience, one of the best of its kind in the world.”
The scheme involved a change of use from offices to spa, and therefore was not without its challenges. These included working in a building occupied by multiple high profile banks as well as creating a space within the confines of a basement and having to create a link bridge between the Lanesborough Hotel and 1 Knightsbridge.
As with the refurbishment of the Lanesborough itself, the Club & Spa required working with the very best team, including luxury interior design practice, 1508, and Spa Consultant, Howard Spa. The scheme had to refer to and coordinate with the beautiful and involved re-design of the hotel, which overlapped with the Club & Spa project.
“We are very proud of the Lanesborough Club & Spa, which is already garnering excellent reviews across the lifestyle press,” explained James Wilkins. “The project brought together best in class suppliers including EE Smith providing joinery on the scheme, which makes up more than 50 per cent of wall finishes throughout the club and spa, and Novidis fluted stone used for wall finishes in key areas.”
1508 has created a British inspired décor providing grandeur and grace in equal measure with wood panelling, marble detailing and silk wallpapers.
The Lanesborough offers 93 guest rooms, including 43 suites, and a personal butler service for all guests. Oetker Collection manages the hotel, bringing its expertise to the United Kingdom for the first time
Members can luxuriate in a hydrotherapy pool and thermal suites, or enjoy signature treatments in one of four spacious treatment rooms.
